Rotate PDF
Rotate every page or individual pages of a PDF in your browser.
Rotate PDF — Turn the pages of a PDF in 90-degree steps and download the rotated document. Pick one rotation for the whole file, then click any page to override just that page. Everything runs with pdf-lib inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
What is Rotate PDF?
Rotate PDF is a free, browser-based tool for fixing the orientation of a PDF. It lets you rotate the whole document at once by 90°, 180°, or 270°, or rotate single pages individually when only a few scans came in sideways. Students, office workers, and anyone dealing with phone-scanned receipts or contracts use it to stand sideways pages upright before printing or sharing. You drop one PDF, see a thumbnail of every page, set a default rotation in Settings, and click the rotate button on any page card to override that one — then download the corrected file.
How to use Rotate PDF
- Drop a PDF onto the dropzone (or click it to pick a file) — the tool reads the page count and renders a thumbnail of every page.
- Open Settings and choose the default rotation (0°, 90°, 180°, or 270°) applied to all pages.
- If only some pages are wrong, click the rotate button on a page card to turn just that page 90° clockwise; click again to cycle through 180°, 270°, and back to 0°.
- Click any thumbnail to open a larger lightbox preview and confirm the orientation looks right.
- Click the Download button to save the rotated PDF (the file is named after the source with a '-rotated.pdf' suffix).
Examples
Stand a sideways scan upright
A 6-page contract was scanned in landscape, so every page shows up rotated 90°. Set the default rotation to 270° in Settings, check the thumbnails, and download a fully upright PDF.
Fix just two crooked pages
Most of the document is fine, but pages 3 and 4 came in upside down. Leave the default at 0°, click the rotate button on those two cards until they read 180°, and download — the rest of the file is untouched.
Quarter-turn a whole report
A slide deck exported to PDF is rotated a quarter turn. Choose 90° as the default rotation, glance at the live thumbnail preview, then download the corrected document.
Frequently asked questions
- Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs 100% client-side in your browser using pdf-lib. The file is read locally, rotated in memory, and the new PDF is generated on your device — it is never uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere.
- Can I rotate to any angle?
- Rotation works in 90° steps only. The default rotation offers 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°, and each click of a page's rotate button advances it through those four values, which covers every upright, sideways, and upside-down orientation.
- How do I rotate just one page instead of all of them?
- Leave the default rotation as you like and click the rotate button on a single page card. That page gets its own override while every other page keeps following the default rotation.
- Why won't my PDF open?
- If the file is corrupted or in an unsupported format you'll see a load error. The tool ignores standard encryption flags when loading, but badly damaged files may still fail to parse.
- Can I rotate more than one PDF at once?
- The tool works on one PDF at a time. Loading a new file replaces the current pages, so finish and download one document before starting another.
