What is Favicon Generator?

The Favicon Generator is a free, browser-based favicon maker that turns one PNG or JPG image into a complete set of square website icons. It is built for developers, web designers, and site owners who need favicons fast for HTML, WordPress, PWAs, or Apple touch icons without installing software or signing up. Drop in a single source image and it instantly creates 16, 32, 48, 180 (Apple touch) and 512 px (PWA) square PNG icons, each scaled with high-quality canvas rendering. Use it whenever you want to convert a logo or image into ready-to-use favicon files entirely on your own device.

How to use Favicon Generator

  1. Drop a PNG or JPG image onto the dropzone, or click it to browse and pick a file from your device.
  2. Wait while the tool automatically renders all five sizes; a preview of your source image and each generated icon appears below.
  3. Click the source image or any icon thumbnail to open the zoom lightbox and inspect how it looks at that pixel size.
  4. Press the per-size download button on a row to save just that single size, for example only the 32 px or 512 px PNG.
  5. Click Download all to save every generated size at once.
  6. Use the reset button to clear the current image and start over with a new one.

Examples

Logo to full favicon set

Drop a PNG company logo named logo.png and get back five square PNG files named logo-16x16.png, logo-32x32.png, logo-48x48.png, logo-180x180.png and logo-512x512.png, ready to drop into a public folder.

Non-square source image

Upload a wide JPG banner and the tool keeps the original aspect ratio, centering it inside each square with transparent padding so the icon never looks stretched or distorted.

Apple touch and PWA icons only

Let the set render, then download just the 180 px Apple touch icon and the 512 px PWA icon individually instead of grabbing the whole batch.

Frequently asked questions

What image formats can I upload?
You can drop or browse for a single PNG or JPG image. The tool reads that one source image and renders all output sizes from it.
Which favicon sizes does it create?
It outputs five square sizes: 16, 32 and 48 px standard favicons, a 180 px Apple touch icon and a 512 px PWA icon. Each one is a separate PNG file.
Are the icons PNG or ICO files?
Every generated icon is a PNG. The tool produces individual square PNG files for each size rather than a combined ICO file.
Will my image get stretched if it is not square?
No. Each size preserves the original aspect ratio and is centered inside the square using high-quality canvas scaling, with transparent padding filling any leftover space.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded, so it stays completely private on your own device.
