What is Favicon Generator?
The Favicon Generator is a free, browser-based favicon maker that turns one PNG or JPG image into a complete, ready-to-ship favicon package. It is built for developers, web designers and site owners who need favicons fast for HTML, WordPress, PWAs or Apple touch icons without installing software or signing up. It bundles a genuine multi-resolution favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), square PNG icons at 16, 32, 48, 180 (Apple touch) and 192/512 px (Android/PWA), a site.webmanifest and an HTML head snippet, all rendered with high-quality canvas scaling. Use it whenever you want to convert a logo or image into every favicon file a modern site needs, entirely on your own device.
How to use Favicon Generator
- Drop a PNG or JPG image onto the dropzone, or click it to browse and pick a file from your device.
- Open the settings gear to pick a square, rounded or maskable shape, turn on a background fill color, and set edge padding.
- Wait while the tool automatically renders every size, packs the multi-resolution favicon.ico and builds the site.webmanifest and HTML snippet.
- Click any thumbnail to open the zoom lightbox, or copy the HTML <head> snippet and manifest text straight from their panels.
- Use a per-size button to save just one PNG, the .ico button for the icon bundle, or Download package to grab everything as a ZIP.
- Press reset to clear the current image and start over with a new one.
Examples
Logo to full favicon package
Drop a PNG logo and get favicon.ico, favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png, apple-touch-icon.png, android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png and site.webmanifest, plus the matching <head> snippet — all zipped into favicon-package.zip.
Maskable Android icon
Switch the shape to maskable and turn on a white background: the tool adds safe-zone padding and sets the manifest icon purpose to "maskable", so Android can crop it into a circle or squircle without clipping your logo.
Rounded icon with padding
Pick the rounded shape and around 12% padding to get softly clipped corners with breathing room around the artwork, matching modern app-icon styling.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the favicon.ico a real multi-resolution icon?
- Yes. The tool packs the 16, 32 and 48 px PNGs into a single favicon.ico container written byte-by-byte in your browser, so one .ico file serves all three resolutions to browser tabs and bookmarks.
- What files are in the ZIP package?
- The ZIP contains favicon.ico, the PNG icons (16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 px with conventional names) and site.webmanifest. Paste the provided HTML <head> snippet to wire them into your page.
- What do the shape and padding options do?
- Square keeps a plain square icon, rounded clips the corners, and maskable adds a safe-zone margin and marks the manifest icons as maskable for Android. Padding shrinks the artwork inside each square, and the background fill paints behind it.
- What image formats can I upload?
- You can drop or browse for a single PNG or JPG image. The tool reads that one source image and renders every output size, the favicon.ico and the manifest from it.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API — the PNG icons, the favicon.ico container and the ZIP are all built on your device, so your image is never uploaded.
