Meme Generator
Add Impact-style top and bottom captions to an image in your browser.
Meme Generator — Drop in any image and overlay classic Impact-style captions on the top and bottom, drawn with bold white text and a thick black outline so it stays readable over any background. You control the font size and outline thickness, and the meme is composited live on an HTML canvas. Everything runs in your browser — your image is never uploaded to any server.
What is Meme Generator?
The deftdeck Meme Generator is a free, in-browser tool for turning any picture into a captioned meme in the unmistakable Impact style. Streamers, community managers, marketers, students, and anyone posting on social media can drop in a photo or screenshot, type a top and bottom line, and get white block letters with a heavy black outline laid over the image. You can fine-tune the Font size and Outline width to fit the text neatly, see the result update instantly, and download a ready-to-share PNG. Because the whole thing is composited on a canvas locally, there is no upload, no account, and no watermark.
How to use Meme Generator
- Drag and drop an image onto the dropzone, or click it to pick a photo or screenshot (PNG, JPEG, WebP, or any image your browser can open).
- Type your Top caption and Bottom caption — leave either blank if you only want one line.
- Adjust Font size to make the caption bigger or smaller, and set Outline width for a thicker or thinner black border around the letters.
- Watch the live preview update as you type and tweak the settings; click it to open the zoom lightbox for a closer look.
- Click Download to save the finished meme as a PNG image to your device.
Examples
Classic two-line reaction meme
Drop in a reaction photo, type 'WHEN THE BUILD' on top and 'FINALLY PASSES' on the bottom, then download a shareable PNG with bold outlined captions.
Single bottom caption
Leave the top caption empty, add only a bottom line such as 'IT WORKS ON MY MACHINE', and increase the Font size so the punchline fills the lower edge.
Thicker outline for a busy background
For a screenshot with lots of detail, raise the Outline width so the white text stays crisp and legible over the background before downloading.
Frequently asked questions
- What image formats can I use?
- Any image your browser can open (the dropzone accepts image/*), including PNG, JPEG, and WebP. The meme is always exported as a PNG so the captions stay sharp.
- Can I make a meme with only one caption?
- Yes. Fill in just the top or just the bottom field and leave the other empty — only the line you typed is drawn on the image.
- Why is the text in the Impact style?
- Impact-style bold white letters with a black outline are the long-standing convention for image macros because they stay readable over almost any background. The Outline width control lets you thicken that border for busier images.
- Is there a watermark or sign-up?
- No. There is no watermark, no account, and no limit. You drop an image, caption it, and download the result directly.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs 100% client-side in your browser using the HTML canvas. Your image is never uploaded to deftdeck or any server, and nothing leaves your device.
