Image WatermarkStamp a custom text watermark onto a photo or screenshot, controlling the opacity, font size, color and which of nine anchor positions it sits in, with a live before-and-after preview. The watermark is composited with the Canvas API entirely in your browser, so the image is never uploaded. Export the result as a PNG or a JPEG.

What is Image Watermark?

The Image Watermark tool is a free, browser-based utility that overlays a line of text onto an image so you can label, brand, or protect your photos and screenshots. It is useful for photographers marking proofs, designers adding a copyright notice, and anyone who wants to put a name, URL, or "© 2026" stamp on a picture before sharing it. Type your watermark text, dial in the opacity, font size and color, choose one of nine positions (corners, edges, or center), and compare the original against the watermarked result side by side. Because the compositing runs on the Canvas API, the watermark is applied automatically and instantly with no sign-up and no upload queue.

How to use Image Watermark

  1. Drop or select an image (PNG, JPG, WebP, or any format your browser can read) onto the dropzone. The watermark is applied automatically.
  2. Type the watermark text — a name, a URL, or a copyright line such as "© 2026 Studio".
  3. Adjust the Opacity slider for how see-through the text is, and the Size slider to scale the text relative to the image.
  4. Pick a text Color with the color picker and a Position from the nine anchors (top/middle/bottom × left/center/right).
  5. Choose the output format — PNG to keep transparency, or JPEG for a smaller file — then click Download to save the watermarked image.

Examples

Copyright stamp on a photo proof

Drop a JPG photo, set the text to "© 2026 Jane Doe", lower the opacity to about 40%, choose white, and place it bottom-right. The result is a subtle, semi-transparent credit line baked into the corner before you share the proof.

Brand a screenshot for a tutorial

Load a PNG screenshot, type your site URL, increase the size slider, and center the watermark. Export as PNG to keep the original transparency around the watermarked image.

Bold draft label across the middle

Add the text "DRAFT", set the color to red, raise the opacity, pick a large size, and choose the center position so the label clearly marks the image as not final.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I place the watermark?
You can pick from nine positions: the four corners, the four edge midpoints, and the exact center. The text aligns to the chosen anchor with a small margin from the edge.
Which output formats are supported?
You can export the watermarked image as PNG or JPEG. PNG keeps any transparency; JPEG produces a smaller file and fills transparent areas with a white background.
Can I make the watermark more or less visible?
Yes. The Opacity slider sets how transparent the text is (5%-100%), and a soft drop shadow keeps it readable over both light and dark areas of the image.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The watermark is composited 100% client-side in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded, sent to our servers, or shared, so private and sensitive pictures stay on your device.
Does it support image (logo) watermarks?
This tool adds a text watermark only. You control the text content, opacity, size, color, and position, but it does not overlay a separate logo or image file.
